St. Petersburg International Motor Show 2021

The St. Petersburg International Motor Show, is a very interesting one for the Auto sector. It is one of those very few fairs or trade shows that have a history associated with them. The show started in 1992 as the AutoWorld Expo, and has been a regular annual event, organized by the firm FAREXPO, and has been a well represented and attended fair since then. In fact, so much so that it has not only garnered a lot of high praise from industry experts, it has actually played an important role in the development of the automotive market in the city. However, over the past few years, with the automotive industry changing drastically and unrecognizably, the AutoWorld Expo, has evolved into the St. Petersburg International Motor Show, that is now co-organized by FAREXPO and Avtoselkhozmash-Holding OJSC (Moscow).

A very interesting fact about the fair is that, in spite of the fact that there is very little time left for the fair, the official website of the event, still details the "upcoming" 2019 edition, and only fleetingly mentions the 2021 one. The fair is supposed to have three distinct sections; Cars, Auto components and one unique section called the Autofestival. The Autofestival, is an interesting section that will display retro cars, exclusive tuning of production cars, mototechnics, unique samples of cars from fanclub collections etc.

Although the information shared by the organizers on their official website, is sketchy at best, the fair still looks very interesting and promising. Especially so, because of the support from the many local industry associations, and because of the fact that it has been a very well attended fair over the last so many years. Plus, it has that Autofestival section, that promises to give it just the required amount of glamour.

CPhI WorldWide 2020 ... bites the dust!!

The CPhI WorldWide, the premier event for the pharmaceutical industry globally, has finally surrendered in front of the global pandemic that is Covid-19. It is a travelling exhibition, in that every year, it is held in a different city, like Frankfurt, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid etc. This year, it was supposed to be held in Milan, Italy.

As per a short and terse notice on its official website, after prolonged and detailed discussions and consultations with various stakeholders, it was decided to postpone the physical event to next year. This year, a digital meeting will be organized, so that business can be conducted, although in a virtual space. This probably is what the future holds. Virtual exhibitions and trade shows, where buyers and sellers meet digitally.

The CPhI WorldWide is not the first fair to be postponed for a year. There have been numerous events this year that have been either cancelled or postponed. The way things are moving, it doesn't seem to be the last fair either, to be postponed. The earliest that normalcy will be restored, seems to be only by early next year, once either a vaccine or a medicine is widely available for CoVid-19. Till then travel restrictions will remain, and so will the atmosphere of fear. Till then we can only hope that things don't go further south.

A Snapshot .... Heimtextil Frankfurt 2016

Stand design at the Heimtextil 2016, in Frankfurt, Germany, is almost like the distant past, one would be tempted to say. So why post a snapshot now? Well, the answer is slightly embarrassing. We just got a little lazy, and didnt get around to preparing a good enough snapshot earlier. Happens!!

Well, to cut a long story short, we designed and built a stand for Divya Textiles Pvt. Ltd., a Mumbai based manufacturer of quality home furnishings, at the 2016 edition of the Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Germany. The design brief was, well very brief. We had to design a simple stand, to showcase the elegance of their products, and we had to be economical.

We somehow managed to do it, we believe. The high point of the design was the three focal walls, which formed the backdrop to their three bed stories. The straight shelves with concealed lighting, were for the display of their cushions in bulk. Each cushion was a symbolic representation of their complete bed story.

Rather than detail out the complete stand in our words, we would much rather prefer that you go through the snapshot, which we have posted on youtube, and form your own opinion about it. Do let us know what you think. You can post here, or mail us at info@teamstudioone.in We will look forward to your feedback.

InnoTrans Berlin 2014
Boasting of a large number of reference projects and a lot of transport technology firms, Berlin happens to be the main focus of Germany's transport engineering industry. Naturally, it also happens to be the obvious choice for hosting the InnoTrans exhibition, providing an international platform for buyers and sellers of passenger and freight transport technologies.

The last edition of the InnoTrans fair, held in 2012, was spread over more than 160,000 sq.m. and had 2,515 exhibitors from 49 countries. It also boasted of more than 126,000 visitors from 140 countries. All the above figures are taken from the exhibition's official page, and are expected to be true. This year, the fair is expected to be even bigger.

Our Designs for the Automechanika Frankfurt Exhibition

We at Studio One Designs Pvt. Ltd., design and build booths at various exhibitions and trade shows all over the world. Unfortunately, sometimes, as it happens with everybody else, we design, but do not get to build. Sometimes our designs are shopped around, and the lowest bidder gets to build it. But, sometimes, our designs just get passed over, and never make it to the discussion table with the client.

Here, we showcase some of our designs that we prepared for the Automechanika Frankfurt Fair, which we loved ..... but somehow they did not meet the clients' expectations, and ultimately they never saw the light of day!

Exhibition Stand Design at the Wire & Tube 2014, Dusseldorf, Germany.

The just concluded Wire & Tube Expo 2014, Dusseldorf, Germany, was, as all the preceding editions of the same trade show, the biggest and most comprehensive fair for the industry. Held from the 7th till the 11th of April 2014, it was witness to the largest participation yet, from the most number of countries, and attracted an unprecedentedly huge number of eyeballs!

The most important thing for us, at Studio One Designs Pvt. Ltd., was that it also marked our debut at the fair. We were there, representing the Gulf Specialty Steel Industries, the first company to produce galvanized steel wires in the Sultanate of Oman.

Wire & Tube Show 2014, Dusseldorf, Germany.
With a booth size of 20sq.m., posters and graphics for display, and a  design brief that centred on minimalist and simple, our design team came up with a solution that not only fit their requirements, but came good on the budget constraints too, without in any way, compromising on aesthetics or build quality!

Our Booth Designs at German Exhibitions

We are proud to present our latest set of designs and realizations at German Fairs / Exhibitions. These realizations were at the latest edition of the ACHEMA, a trade show held in Frankfurt, from the 18th to the 22nd of June 2012. This exhibition is held once in every three years.

In this exhibition we had a unique situation where we had five clients, but just three stands. One of the booths was a single client booth, but the other two had two co-exhibitors each. The first booth was for a Delhi based company, Axiva Sichem Biotech. They had a corner stand of 25sq.m. The design brief was to come up with a stand that would be simple, uncomplicated, uncluttered, highly functional and yet be pleasing to the eye and welcoming to potential buyers. This is what we came up with.

Display Unit Design for ACHEMA 2012, a German Fair.
The second stand that we designed was for the two exhibitors SD India Corporation and Contech Instruments Ltd. Both companies had together taken up a 12sq.m. booth, that was open on one side. This stand presented its own peculiar design problem, in that it had to be divided into two distinct areas, each dedicated to one exhibitor. Yet the design of the stand had to be uncluttered and economical. The design of the booth, hence, was conceived as a combination of the modular system and the wooden stand construction system. The results are below.

The third stall that we designed, was for the exhibitors United Scientific Instruments and Rajas Enterprises. Again a 12sq.m. stand, this was slightly less complicated because the two exhibitors did not require a very clear demarcation of space and hence the problem of overcrowding didnot crop up. Also since the display was mainly graphics on the walls, the stand looked pleasing and simple and very easy on the eye. The photos of the stand are posted below.

Exhibition Stand Design in Germany

As we wrap up our work at the ACHEMA in Frankfurt, and move towards other fairs in India and in Europe, we are proud to present some pictures of our work at the above fair. These are initial pictures of the time when our team was still working on the stands, just before completion and handover to the clients. As more pictures come in, I will post those too.

The first one is of the exhibition stand that we designed for SD India Corporation and Contech Instruments Ltd. These two firms were co-exhibitors at the fair in Frankfurt. They were looking for an economical solution for their booth at the ACHEMA Frankfurt fair, and we designed a stand that was a combination of a modular and a bespoke system. This made the stand look good, yet be functional and economical.

Stand Design for ACHEMA at Frankfurt, Germany
Being a 12 sq.m. stand, open on only one side, and with two co-exhibitors, with their seperate meeting areas, made designing for it a difficult problem. The problem was as much to avoid congestion in the booth, as to keep costs low and yet make it look good. The solution was to use a combination of a modular system, and combine it with a custom-designed element, to act as both a partition between the two spaces and to double up as a display unit.

Designing a stand for an exhibition in Germany, has its own typical issues and problems. The designing of the stand is done in our office in India, but the fabrication has to take place in Germany. Obviously then, there has to be a lot of two way communication between our design team and the fabricating partner in Germany. And it has to be made sure that there is absolute clarity of thought and planning between the two, so that a perfect outcome can be planned. It is here that Studio One Designs Pvt. Ltd., scores over most of its competitors. We work hard, not only during the design process in India and the fabricating process in Germany, but also in between the two processes, to ensure that there are no unpleasant surprises, for us or for our clients!!

We look forward to hearing from you, for your design and display needs at any fair / exhibition, anywhere in India or in Europe, and we would very happy to help you get the right solution for your needs at the right price. We assure you of our best services always. Do get in touch with us!!

Stand design for Automechanika 2012 at Frankfurt, Germany

After an exhausting month, marketing our exhibition stand design and construction / fabrication services for ACHEMA 2012, to be held in June in Frankfurt, we are now about to start marketing our exhibition booth design services for the other significant fair in Frankfurt, Germany ...... the Automechanika 2012. The Automechanika Frankfurt, is one of the largest shows for the automobile and its ancilliary industries anywhere in the world, and is organised by Messe Frankfurt, once every two years.

Automechanika 2012, Frankfurt, Germany.

This year the Automechanika Frankfurt fair will be held at the Messe Frankfurt fairgrounds from the 11th to the 16th of Sept 2012. And if figures from the last edition of the show at Frankfurt are any indication (4,471 exhibitors and 153,837 visitors), this is going to be one very big show. With the biggest names in the automotive industry participating in the fair and showcasing their products for the world to see, and big ticket product launches anticipated all round, the show is already attracting attention from all over the world. It is one trade show that anybody even remotely connected to or interested in anything that has anything to do with automobiles, cannot afford to miss.

Naturally, that translates to huge opportunities, not only for people in the automotive or its ancilliary industries, but also people like us, who design and fabricate stalls for exhibitions all over the world. The way we design a stall in any exhibition, decides how a company is viewed by the visitors. We are the hidden factor that projects the brand image or the corporate identity of a company. Our services may seem limited to product placement in an exhibition stand, but it is way more than simply that.

Over the next few posts, I will be looking at potential design trends for the design of booths at the Automechanika Frankfurt show. I will also be studying the way stands were designed at the previous edition of the Automechanika Frankfurt show in 2010, as an indication of what remained to be said at that point of time.

All exhibitors at the Automechanika Frankfurt 2012 show, are invited to discuss their stand design requirements with our team at Studio One Designs Pvt. Ltd. and evaluate for themselves our abilities in designing meaningful exhibits for their stands. We take pride in the fact that we deal with each exhibitor at any exhibition or trade show, anywhere in the world, as a unique individual or entity. We appreciate the fact that each exhibitor comes with a seperate baggage containing a unique combination of taste, requirements, budget and design sensibilities and we treat each individual exhibitor as such, with the utmost of respect and patience. Do drop us a line at studioonedpl@gmail.com and we will definitely get back to you, to discuss your requirements of exhibition stand design at the Automechanika Frankfurt 2012 fair, at greater length.

The Auto Expo 2012, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India

Recently, I was able to find time to visit the Auto Expo that took place in New Delhi, and have a first hand look at design trends and ideas for an Auto Show. It was an interesting visit, that threw up not only interesting ideas but also highlighted how the same or almost similar idea can be used and reused in different contexts.

The Delhi Auto Expo 2012, as expected, was very vibrant and inspiring, with some very interesting design ideas, and some not so interesting ideas. The crowds milling around in the halls that were displaying the automobiles bore testimony to the glitter and glam of an Auto Show. Comparatively the auto component stalls wore a pretty deserted look. It led me to think that it is not only the content or design of a booth that attracts crowds, it is the glam-quotient associated with it too. Or maybe it is only the glam-quotient that attracts the crowds. How that effects serious business in a corporate fair is anybodies' guess.

Getting back to the design part of the Auto Expo, the Ashok Leyland hall was very well laid out and display was interesting too. So was the TATA hall. The display of the Pixel at the TATA hall and the Jaguars displayed right next to it attracted a lot of attention. The way the hall had been laid out for easy movement and viewing was the highlight from a design point-of-view.

Auto Show 2012
The Ashok Leyland hall was the perfect example of how with very minimal design elements, but a very effective layout the maximum possible effect can be achieved. Notice that the ceiling element is the only thing that can qualify as a design element, but that one element alone is so powerful that it enhances the overall experience without, in any way hindering with the display.

Auto Expo 2012
The Tata Pixel concept car!! An absolutely stunning beauty, a perfect example of the adage that good things come in small packages!! Although ironically the Tata Motors hall was a humongous display, but very effectively done.

Then there were the innovative display ideas and the innovative display ideas and the innovative display ideas ............ Please go through the next set of photographs to understand the repetition of words above!!
